It has been my honor to represent Butler Heating and Air Conditioning on radio and television since 1996. Our relationship has been more than an announcer doing a commercial. When I endorse a product or service, it is because I have personally experienced and used it. And have gotten to know the employees of a company on many levels. Consistently, Butler has risen above excellent in all areas, has raised the bar for all other companies, and surpassed every expectation.

Most paramount of all, Butler has proved, continues to prove, and will continue to prove, the elite character that is most important of any consideration: a commitment to integrity in all dealings. Fair, honest, above board; at Butler it is not a slogan, but the way they do business. It is the expectation of the company for their employees, and a code the company lives everyday. How can I be so sure? Because, as a radio host, I am in communication with my audience, a group of people I have served for 21 years in the Dayton market. They tell me about all of the firms I recommend. What they tell me about Butler Heating and Air Conditioning are the facts I'm relating to you. Over the past decade and three years, I have had scores of phone calls, stacks of letters and e-mails, about service beyond the call, day or night, weekday, weekend and holiday.

Recently, a woman from Jeffersonville, Ohio called to tell me about a problem they had. Having heard my ads, they called Butler. Though outside of their service area, Butler diagnosed the likely cause of the problem, and referred her to the gas supplier for that area, and told her what to tell them. Then they followed up to make sure all was ok. All of that without any though of making a dime. Butler did what they always do: deliver service at the very highest level. When I first began talking about Butler on the air, Bob Butler, the founder was still alive. I got to know him, and his high standards well. He would indeed, be very, very proud.

Dear Steve:

I am writing to thank you for a wonderful job servicing our air conditioning unit. Our A/C broke down just a few days before the temperatures rose, and the humidity increased. We were sure we'd have to suffer through the hot days without it, but your team made sure we did not!

We originally got quotes from a few other companies. All of them came out, looked at our unit and quoted us a price on a new system. I was referred to Butler by a co-worker. He seemed very happy with the work you did for him, so we decided to give you a call.

Your salesman, Keith Wise, took one look at our air conditioner and told us he couldn't sell us a new one because the one we had was just fine. It merely needed an easy repair! We couldn't believe we were that close to spending thousands of dollars on a new unit, and here was the first person telling us we didn't need one! Keith opened our unit, showed us what the problem was, made a few calls, and got us on the schedule for the following week.

Our service got even better when Keith called us back an hour later to tell us someone would be out to repair the unit that day! We owe a big thank you to Greg Millsaps, who came out in the 90-degree heat to work on our unit. My husband really enjoyed staying outside and talking with Greg, despite the hot weather!

What great service, and honest employees you have! It is refreshing to come across a company like yours. We will never go elsewhere for our heating and cooling needs. You have made us customers for life! And we will also be passing along your name to our friends and family.

This afternoon I was standing at the curb at Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. and Superior Ave. in Fairborn around 12:15 PM waiting for a C.A.T.S. flex-service bus. As I looked up the road, towards Five Points intersection, I happened to see a Fairborn City Bus had stopped at the curb with its red lights flashing. What surprised me was the number of trucks and cars that passed the bus, that is until one of your trucks did the right thing and stopped. Only then did people stop their vehicles allowing the children to board the bus in safety.

I only wished I had gotten the truck's number as it passed me heading towards 444. Good for him or her for doing the right thing!!!

Dear Keith,

I want you to know that I'm very pleased with the heat pump installation and heat duct modifications you did for us. Wade and his partner were excellent representatives of your company. Their priorities were in exactly the spot, getting the job done right! They never appeared to be concerned about quitting for the day, just what and how things needed to be done. They are great employees. The modifications you made to our heat ducts make living in the family room a warm experience. I believe that last weekend was a good test of the system since temperatures got down in the 20's F. I was actually hot in the family room for the first time in the 6 years we've lived here. Dear Butler,

Three weeks ago I purchased a furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater from Butler. I am thrilled with everything, but I am writing in regards to Finely, the installer. What a wonderful, kind, conscientious person he is. I could not have asked for anyone better to have installed my purchases. He covered my carpet with plastic so as not to soil it while coming in and out of my home with equipment and supplies. He took the time to move my water heater to have more room in the furnace room. His work was perfect- pipes were covered with sheet metal so nothing would look unsightly. It makes me want to put chairs in that room and invite people over to see the work he did. Thank you again for sending Finley to do the work. He is a GREAT person.

Dear Mr. Scothorn,

This is a letter of appreciation for Mike, Service Technician for your business, who visited my home in May. Mike was servicing my older air conditioning unit. He took time to check each item needed and explained to me what he was doing. He also explained the need for the contactor, as well as why he did not have one on his truck. He explained why he would have to do another service call to return to install the needed item.

Because of his going over about having a service contract, I made the decision to do a year contract with your business. I am sure you are happy to have Mike as a member of your staff. Twenty years ago in January 1986, our old heat pump went out. I went to Butler Heating's showroom and met with a sales person. He was very friendly and told me his name was Dick. He came to our house, checked out the situation and we discussed repairing or replacing our old unit. He was very careful to measure all the registers and cold air returns. We decided to replace the heat pump, lines into the house, and the inside coil with a Carrier unit. My wife was home at the time of the installation. She was home resting because she was pregnant and due to have our son sometime in February. The installer was very considerate and tried not to disturb her. The installer did a very good job. Other than routine maintenance we replaced two defrost boards and one set of fan blades.

Even though the unit was still working fine, we decided to replace our twenty-year-old unit this fall. I contacted Butler and John came to our house to discuss options for replacement of our old system. I asked John to give me estimates on several possible ways to approach replacement. He was back out within a few days and we discussed the pros and cons of each way to change the old unit. He did not pressure me, but told me the advantages of each option. My wife and I discussed the matter. I then got back with John and told him we had decided to go with a new Carrier variable speed furnace and the Puron heat pump. John called to let us know the job would be started the first week of November.

The installer came to our door and introduced himself. He was friendly. His name was Finley. Finley was most respectful of our home. He had canvas tarps to place in the work area. He did a very neat and careful job. Since I am now retired, I had a chance to watch him work. Finley was very friendly and courteous. He worked carefully and expertly in everything he did. If I had a question about the new system, he would explain how it worked. While Finley was working, John also stopped by to see how the work was coming and to answer any questions for me. When Finley was finished with the installation, he made sure all of my questions were answered on the operation of the new system.

I decided to send this letter to you because I felt you should know what a good job I think John and Finley did. That is why I have used Butler Heating for the past twenty years!

We recently purchased a new furnace from your company which was installed by your employee, Finley. My husband and I wanted to take a moment to let you know how happy we are with the furnace and especially with your installer. Finley was a pleasure to have working in our home. He arrived on time each day, put in a full day's work, cleaned up after himself and left our basement neat and tidy each evening. He was pleasant and polite, answered all our questions and explained every aspect of our new equipment. He represents your company well. I am writing this letter to let you know what a valuable employee you have in Keith. My air conditioner was not working well. Your serviceman gave me options with the problem, the best one being a new air conditioner. It was July, and of course extremely hot. With an elderly mother and a dog with health challenges, air conditioning was a huge necessity.

Keith came out the same day. He was a pleasure to deal with. That cannot be said of all sales people. I was very impressed. When the emergency date to put the new air conditioner in was a challenge due to my work schedule, Keith came to my home before I left for work. He stayed with my mother (who would not have been able to let the installer in) until the installer arrived, and introduced him to my mother so she would feel comfortable. My mother said the installer was a very nice man whom she felt comfortable having in her home. Keith is a very kind and caring man who goes well above and beyond his job description.

I can guarantee you that if I owned a company who employed sales professionals, Keith would be an employee of mine. I work in customer service and have high standards and ethics when dealing with the public, and Keith certainly meets those standards. I only hope you appreciate Keith and his representation of your company.

I will be having a heater installed this fall, and I have not even considered checking prices with any other company. Keith is the person I trust and want to deal with.

I wrote you a letter a few years ago about your serviceman Phil, who is also an excellent representative of your company. I have recommended your company to many friends and neighbors. Thank you for running a company with such excellent employees who provide great customer service.


Just wanted to e-mail you about how much we enjoy the new Carrier furnace installed recently. Thanks to Keith and the installers, for making our ductwork more efficient and our house warmer. It really made a difference!

Your company has recently completed the installation of a new air conditioning unit in my home. I am very pleased with the results from the stand point of functionality and neatness of installation. I am writing you this letter to specifically commend several of your staff for their professional demeanor and attention to quality and customer satisfaction. I had the occasion to have to contact your place of business several times in the past two weeks and, in every instance, Jill gave attention to my requests in a very prompt, professional and friendly manner. In today's world where the telephone is, in many cases, the initial portal through which a customer gains entrance to and forms an opinion of your business, it must be comforting to know you have an employee such as Jill on your administrative staff.

I would also like to thank you for having people like John on your sales staff who know your products and are able to present them in a non-abrasive manner. It just so happens that in an early work endeavor some 50 years ago at Proctor and Gamble, I was involved with Air Conveyance Engineering as it related to moving granulated products such as Tide through ducts. I am familiar with the more technical aspects of air flow and was pleased to recognize that John was able to answer several technical questions I had regarding our new equipment. I also appreciated John's low key approach to sales.

And last, but not least, thank you for having quality installation personnel such as Fred on your staff. I tend to be somewhat of a stickler for detail and I certainly recognize quality as it relates to an engineering installation. Fred did a superb job on the installation and deserves recognition for doing so.

I just wanted to let you know how great your business is and how great your service guys and dispatchers are!

I have had service twice in the last few months, but I have used Butler for a bunch of years. We are very busy and most companies will give us a 3 or 4 hour window and we just have to sit at home and wait. Your dispatcher will always page or call my cell when we have about 15 to 20 minutes to arrival. That is how business should be conducted! You are doing your best to accommodate the client and you make it real easy to do business with.

Also, we have never met a Butler service guy that we did not like. They are always very professional and courteous. They also are always very knowledgeable. They never seem to be wasting time which cost both of us.

I was recently happy to refer my friends to your company for their heating and air conditioning needs.

I heard that your company installed a new furnace and air conditioning unit at their house. I hope they are as satisfied as I have been with my new Carrier furnace.


Recently one of your fine service people came to my home and serviced my furnace that was not heating properly.

When the furnace showed the same symptoms of the original service call, he came back out on a cold and snowy Sunday morning to make sure the furnace was heating once again. At present, the problem seems resolved.
